A former policeman is looking to make a work accident claim after suffering a personal injury while on duty.
The ex-officer suffered injuries to his back and knee during a struggle to apprehend a prisoner in Birmingham City Centre.
The injured policeman required multiple operations on his knee and had to take several months off of work while he recuperated.
However West Midlands Police have disputed his claim arguing that his injuries are less severe than he is claiming.
Speaking of his compensation claim, the ex-officer said: "I was accused of not telling the truth about my injuries and attempts were made to get me back to work although I was totally unfit."
The claimant says that less demanding duties could have been found for him in view of his disability.
A decision on the outcome of his work accident claim has yet to be decided.
