Former workers of an asbestos manufacturer may be able to receive compensation after their claims were frozen in 2001.
Workers suffering from asbestos-related-diseases including asbestosis and mesothelioma are now able to make a compensation claim against their former employer, Turner and Newall.
Employees were exposed to the deadly levels of asbestos throughout their careers and many are now seeking compensation for their illnesses.
But in 2001, all asbestosis claims were frozen after Turner and Newall's parent company, Federal Mogul, went into administration.
Recent asbestos statistics have shown that in that five-year period over 100 former workers have died from asbestos-related diseases.
Ian McFall, National Head of Asbestos Litigation at Thompson's Solicitors, believes that now the freeze has ended, former employees will be able to make successful asbestosis claims.
He said, "This is the final hurdle in what has been a five year battle to gain compensation for asbestos victims. We will be working hard to ensure claimants receive their compensation as soon as possible."
