A 55-year-old construction worker will be able to make an accident at work claim after suffering personal injuries falling from scaffolding while he was working on a construction site.
The employee, who was refurbishing an agricultural building in Hertfordshire, was making his way down the scaffolding he had been working from when he fell.
The accident left the victim in a coma for several days. He had suffered severe head and facial injuries in the fall and was left blind in one eye. The work injury victim was unable to return to his construction job for several months, and when he did return his hours were reduced.
An investigation started by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the exterior of the building, where the man had been working, had not been put through all of the proper safety checks.
At Watford Magistrates' Court, the building company admitted two breaches of health and safety regulations. The firm, from Cambridgeshire, was fined a total of £14,000.
Now that liability for the workplace accident has been established, the victim may wish to consult a no win no fee solicitor with a view to claiming compensation for pain and loss of earnings.
