A man who suffered severe personal injuries in an accident at work has been awarded over £10,000 in work accident compensation.
The man had been working for a company that designs and installs flues when the incident took place.
As he attempted to install a temporary flue at a school in Leeds, he seriously cut his hand on the edge of the flue which had not been smoothed down and was dangerously sharp.
The personal injury was so serious he severed a nerve in the little finger of his right hand. Due to the severity of the injury the worker was forced to take three weeks off work and still has difficulty using his hands for everyday tasks. He was later made redundant by the company.
The worker launched a work accident compensation claim against the company stating that the sharp edge of the flue should have been made safe and he should have been provided with protective gloves.
The company has since admitted liability for his personal injuries and a work accident compensation settlement of £10,250 has been agreed.
