One of the UK's leading supermarkets has recently had to pay out work injury compensation to two of its workers who suffered injuries in separate work-related accidents.
The first of the two work-related accidents occurred in August of 2006 when the ride-on warehouse vehicle a supermarket employee was driving was hit by a truck coming out of a junction. Even though the supermarket's truck drivers are trained to stop at all junctions, in this case the driver failed to do so. The ride-on warehouse vehicle driver received £7,000 in personal injury compensation for the back and neck injuries he suffered in the work-related accident.
The second of the work-related accidents happened in September of 2006 when a warehouse worker slipped on an unloading ramp and suffered a severely cut finger. He was awarded £4,000 in personal injury compensation for the injury he suffered in the work-related accident.
A representative from the union which represents both men said of the work-related accident compensation claim payouts, "We're pleased with the compensation secured for both of our members. We hope it serves as a warning."
