A 46-year-old man has been awarded £450,000 in work injury compensation after he suffered serious head injuries in a scaffolding accident at a warehouse. This is despite the fact that he was receiving job seekers allowance at the time, as well as receiving pay cash-in-hand for this job.
The judge hearing the work injury compensation claim ruled that the man from Glasgow, Scotland, should still receive a payout, finding the 46-year-old's cash-in-hand employers liable. This decision was due, in no small part, to the fact the scaffolding which the Glaswegian was working on was unsafe because of earlier fire damage.
The work injury compensation claimant has expressed regret about the whole incident, saying, "I just wish this had never happened to me. "I regret doing the work and I feel awful about what I have put my family through."
His wife has since has since had to relinquish her own job in order to care for him.
