A refuse collector may be looking to make a work injury claim after being crushed by the dustbin lorry on a rubbish collection in Darlington.
The worker was knocked unconscious in the incident and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with head injuries after the incident last week.
The man suffered a personal injury as the lorry was reversing into a lane and hit him with the bin lift.
Medical staff has said that his injuries are not serious.
Darlington Borough Council is now investigating the incident to determine the cause and prevent the same thing happening in the future.
A witness to the incident said that the injury was probably as a result of the crew hurrying because of an increase in work pressure caused by drastic service cuts in the last couple of months.
However Darlington Council denied this as the cause.
If the council is found to be negligent, the injured man could make a work injury claim against it.
