A lorry driver has made a work injury claim following a devastating accident at work.
The work accident occurred at a West Yorkshire warehouse in 2008 when the 52-year-old man was crushed by a lorry as he tried to adjust a docking ramp to load containers onto the vehicle.
The worker suffered two fractured hips, a fractured pelvis and a ruptured bladder after he became trapped between the container lorry and the wall of the dock.
The agency worker was given no formal training on how to correctly unload containers and he had not received health and safety information of training.
The Health and Safety Executive fined the worker's employees £25,000 as well as £10,000 costs after they admitted breaking health and safety rules that ensure workers not in their employment are not exposed to risk.
The guilty verdict means that the injured worker can now pursue his work injury claim against the company through the civil courts.
