Work accident as two men are crushed by glass panes

Two workers have sustained serious personal injury in a work accident at a glass manufacturing firm in Bristol in June 2010.

The victims, a twenty four year old and his thirty five year old colleague, were trying to move a trolley that was full of glass panes when the trolley collapsed and fell on the two men and the panes shattered.

Both employees were severely injured with one needing seventy two stitches in his neck as well as suffering a broken leg, whilst his colleague suffered numerous lacerations, tendon damage and severe bruising.

The trolley, once examined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), was found to be unstable and extremely unsafe with a majority of the weight bearing down on one side rather than being distributed equally.

As a result of the HSE's findings the company were fined a total of £20,000 and ordered to pay court costs of over £5,000.

Both of the men injured are entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim since their employer has now been found liable for the work accident.
