Woman paralysed after Thailand train crash

A woman paralysed in a holiday accident is suing her travel company and the train company for "rehabilitation expenses" and "compensation for lifelong disability-related needs".

The woman was on a train journey in Thailand when the driver put on the emergency brake and the woman somersaulted through the air, landing on her head and breaking her neck.

The Devonshire woman was celebrating her 60th birthday and ruby wedding anniversary with her husband at the time of the accident.

She was taken to hospital and spent 16 days in intensive care before being transferred back to the UK.

The couple now faces having to sell their family home to pay for the long term care that the woman now requires.

Speaking of her personal injury, the woman commented, "I was expecting a fantastic trip on this world-famous train, not to end up in a wheelchair with (the companies) ignoring me."

Both companies have declined repeated requests from the couple over the past five months to negotiate any financial compensation for her holiday accident.
