A Portsmouth man is making a bid for motorcycle accident compensation of more than £300,000 after being involved in a catastrophic incident which occurred during the 2004 British Superbike Championships at Brands Hatch in Kent.
The motorcycle accident compensation claimant suffered severe multiple injuries after being thrown from his bike while trying to avoid another rider who had lost control. Once he had been thrown onto the track, a motorcycle travelling at 100 mph then hit the 34-year-old. At the time, the claimant was so badly injured that his pelvic bone ruptured his skin. He was then forced to spend 4 months in hospital, where he underwent 14 operations.
In a personal injury claim writ served to the High Court, the claimant's lawyers argue that the race organisers should be considered liable because extremely heavy rainfall on the day of the race meant the event should never have gone ahead.
The man, who worked as a roofer before the accident, is claiming compensation for pain, medical expenses and lost earnings. He now suffers from bladder and bowel difficulties as well as paralysis in his left leg. Doctors believe that he will never be able to work again.
In a statement released to the motorcycle accident compensation claimant's local newspaper, his personal injury solicitor commented, "Although we are an experienced firm, the video footage of the accident is the most horrific I have ever seen."
