A record personal injury compensation amount has been awarded after a car accident left a 22-year-old man severely disabled.
The Walsall man was a passenger in the car crash which took place after the driver tried to overtake at a junction and collided with a vehicle which was turning right.
The passenger sustained a broken neck and damage to his spinal cord, meaning he now has no movement in his legs and very little function in his arms.
The compensation amount totals to £11.1 million which will be paid in a £4.25 million lump sum and the rest in annual pay outs to cover the care and specialised equipment that the young man now requires.
The driver of the car was subsequently convicted of careless driving and personal injury lawyers were employed by the injured passenger to make a personal injury compensation claim against him.
