Pothole accident at work causes ankle injury

A nursery nurse from Sheffield has won £3,750 in compensation after an accident at work left her with a painful ankle injury.

The 24 year-old worker fell after encountering a pothole located in the car park of a Hillsborough nursery school. She suffered soft tissue damage to her ankle.

She was unable to return to work for three weeks and found walking impossible for two weeks immediately after the accident.

She has suffered six weeks of ankle stiffness and endured painful rehabilitation.

The young children's worker commented, "The car park has many potholes which I believe had been there for many years. "Quite frankly it was an accident waiting to happen. I just hope now that the holes can be filled in so that other people don't go through the same pain as I did."

A nursery spokesperson confirmed that remedial work had been carried out in the car park, but declined to comment on the out of court settlement arising from the accident at work.
