A 63-year-old man who suffered a head injury after being hit by a cherry picker has won a settlement of accident compensation after being represented by a Sheffield-based personal injury solicitor.
The claimant explained why he decided to instruct a personal injury solicitor, "I had just left the shop and was walking down the pavement reading my lottery ticket, when the picker was lowered into me, leaving me needing glue stitches in the gash on my head."
Settlement was reached in an out of court talks following an admission of liability by the relevant insurance company.
"It was potentially a very serious accident which could have caused extensive and lasting damage," said the claimant's personal injury solicitor."Companies using machinery in public areas need to make sure they follow the strict health and safety guidelines in place to make sure they protect people who may be in the area. They must make sure they carry out a thorough risk assessment and put up signs to warn the public of any danger," he added.
The sum of accident compensation awarded remains undisclosed.
