One of the UK's richest personal injury solicitors has been struck off the register for serious misconduct relating to his handling of work injury claims under the Coal Health Scheme.
During a Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing, the chairman described the 42-year-old personal injury solicitor's actions in compromising the interests of his clients as "a disgrace to the profession".
Most of his offences related to the way it is alleged he misrepresented his "no win, no fee" service, telling clients there would be no fees, only to then charge them a "success fee".
The court also heard how in 2005/06 the personal injury solicitor, a former model and children's television presenter, made a profit of nearly £16 million.
The former Manchester-based solicitor was further punished by being ordered to pay £60,000 costs.
