Worker's union UNISON, in partnership with a firm of personal injury solicitors, has helped a mason injured in an accident at work claim work injury compensation.
The work accident occurred in 2003 when the 61-year-old fell from an unsecured ladder and broke both his feet.
Following the accident at work, the man spent 10 weeks in plaster, was wheelchair bound for six months, spent time on crutches and, even now, uses a stick.
It is reported that the sum of work injury compensation secured for the man by his personal injury solicitor is in the region of £45,000.
The personal injury solicitor who represented the former council worker said, "None of his colleagues were available to hold the ladder whilst he was working on it and no equipment was available to him to secure the ladder to the house he was working on."
