A woman who was seriously injured during a horse riding lesson has been awarded personal injury compensation.
The woman, who was having riding lessons at a school in Newcastle-under-Lyme, was attempting a jump when her foot got caught, knocking the fence, causing rider and horse to fall.
The accident left the woman with two broken vertebrae and caused her to take four months off of work.
The claimant had been taking lessons in preparation for an August 2008 trekking holiday in Spain. However, since the accident she has been told that she will never ride again.
It was later discovered that the jump that caused the accident was not fixed properly and the unweighted oil drums being used were against British Eventing regulations.
The woman launched a personal injury compensation claim against the owner of the riding school and has since been awarded £60,000 after insurers admitted liability.
