According to a new report form Datamonitor, titled UK Personal Injury Litigation 2008, accident claims have risen in 2007-8 leading to nearly 5% increase in personal injury claims.
Personal injury arising from motor accidents was the most common cause of claims, with the number of such compensation cases rising by 6.4% in 2007-8.
In 2007-8 the number of employer liability claims fell to a five year low.
The previous year, 2006-7, workplace accidents and work-related ill health dropped, along with a reduction in non-fatal workplace injuries. However, in the same period workplace fatalities increased.
Workplace injuries in 2006-7 were estimated to total 313,685.
According to the report, the Ministry of Justice is to implement a new claims process for road traffic accident claims up to £10,000 and raise the fast track limit to £25,000.
The report also claims that there will be several major changes to the personal injury claims process in the future.
