Man trips in front of bench of claims lawyers

In what could be one of the most ironic compensation claims to date, a man may make a personal injury claim after hitting his head in the public gallery of a claims court.

In front of a bench full of personal injury lawyers at Glasgow Sheriff Court, the man, who was waiting for his case to be called, fell over a metal bar hanging down from a missing seat.

Witnesses to the accident say that he fell and hit his head on the seats on the other side of the aisle and then cracked his head on a piece of marble.

One personal injury lawyer remarked, "You couldn't make it up. A guy injures himself on a faulty seat in front of about 10 claims lawyers."

"The irony was that none of us saw it because we were facing the front of the court and he was behind us.

"The lawyers managed to restrain themselves, though there's definitely a claim there, I reckon."

The man, who was said to be in his fifties, was treated be paramedics but did not require hospital treatment. It has not been reported whether he is planning to make a personal injury claim for the accident.
