A Scottish man is seeking to make a no win, no fee claim for compensation after he narrowly escaped serious injury when jumping from a golf buggy whose brakes had allegedly failed.
The Edinburgh man was on the golf course of a luxury hotel when the brake failure is alleged to have happened. His no win, no fee claim is for the cuts and bruises he sustained in the incident; had he not jumped out in time, he may well have been making a claim for more serious personal injuries, as the buggy was heading towards a 15ft drop.
The claimant, a retired 59-year-old former post office worker, commented, "As I was coming down an incline I pressed the brakes and nothing happened. The buggy went hurtling on.
"I managed to swerve and had to make a split second decision to jump off and bailed out on to a gravel path.
"Thank goodness I did as the buggy then went hurtling on and down a ravine with a 15ft drop.
"I was very shaken and bleeding and my two golfing partners helped me back to the hotel. They even charged me £30 for using the buggy.
"I want compensation for the trauma and injuries but most of all I want them to admit they were wrong."
Meanwhile, the first task of his no win, no fee lawyer is to obtain the golf buggy's maintenance records.
