Better treatments for mesothelioma could be found in the future, thanks to support being given to new research by the British Lung Foundation and the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund.
Benefiting from the funding will be Stefan Marciniak, a researcher at the University of Cambridge. Marciniak has been awarded funding for a two-year project, which will study the relationship between cell stress and mesothelioma.
The British Lung Foundation is holding Action Mesothelioma Day on July 2 to help raise awareness of the disease and improve the care and treatment for patients. The day is also aimed at highlighting the risk to health of asbestos.
The British Lung Foundation is also calling on the next Government to fulfil nine challenges relating to good lung health which includes action for mesothelioma sufferers and their relatives.
