A Romanian man could be in a position to make a product liability claim for personal injury compensation after finding a dead mouse in a bottle of beer.
The 32-year-old Bacau man was out for a few drinks with friends when he made the grizzly discovery. He'd already taken a swig of the beer when he noticed the dead rodent, however, and was subsequently rushed to hospital with suspected food poisoning.
Telling journalists of his ordeal, the man said: "I simply opened the bottle and took a few gulps. The taste was very strange and when I looked closer I noticed the mouse floating in my beer."
He contacted health officials when he was well enough to be discharged from hospital and they have now launched an investigation into why the mouse was in the bottle.
The official responsible for leading the enquiry said: "We will check the whole batch of beer to see if there are any other such cases. Then we'll contact the producer and see who is responsible for this."
It is thought that the man who drank the beer is likely to employ a no win no fee solicitor to help him make a product liability claim against the brewers of the beer for personal injury compensation.
