A man from Leicestershire is hoping to claim compensation for a motorcycle crash in which he suffered severe and multiple injuries.
The 38-year-old claimant, a prison guard and PT instructor, was taken to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital after a collision with a bus. Once there he was treated for injuries, including a fractured right leg, a head injury and an injured left arm. He also underwent surgery on damaged nerves in his left arm; he is left-handed.
Due to ongoing problems related to his motorcycle crash injuries, the man has been unable to return to his pre-accident job and has had to work in a less satisfying role in the prison service.
His no win, no fee lawyer is hoping to secure around £300,000 in accident compensation and has described the bus driver as negligent, arguing that he failed to keep a proper lookout and changed lanes when it was unsafe to do so.
Despite admitting liability for the motorcycle crash, the bus company dispute the amount of compensation being claimed.
In addition to the sums being sought, the man has asked to be given leave to return to court in the event that his injuries worsen and he develops epilepsy.
