UK lawyer in channel charity swim

A 38-year-old lawyer from Northampton who became paralysed in a motorcycle accident when he was 19 is to swim the channel in order to raise money for spinal injury charity Aspire.

Clearly unwilling to let his motorcycle accident injuries be a significant obstacle to the charity swim, the lawyer told press, "I wouldn't recommend my position to anyone but it's surprising what positives can come from being paralysed. "This is just another illustration that being in a wheelchair can lead to more positive things."

Adding, "Most people would be able to manage the distance in a pool, in a controlled environment, but the sea is a completely different story. "It's a huge challenge for me and the whole team but I really think it's for a good cause. "We hope to get about £20,000 but for something like this, the sky's the limit really."

Aspire does a lot of invaluable work assisting people who have suffered spinal injury in motorcycle accidents. Those who wish to support the lawyer's swim can do so here.
