A rider who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a Manchester City centre collision with an uninsured driver has received a £1.25 million payout of motorbike accident compensation.
As a result of his head injuries the 53-year-old has been left with impaired speech, diminished concentration, balance difficulties and reduced motor coordination.
His wife said, "The crash had a devastating effect on us and our lives will never be the same again."
On the day of the accident the former golf club green keeper was riding to work when he was hit by a car being driven by a 24-year-old woman; she later pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance.
As such, the Motor Insurers Bureau, the body responsible for compensating the victims of uninsured drivers, agreed to pay out the motorbike compensation.
The full motorbike accident compensation deal includes a five-figure yearly payment in addition to the £1.25 upfront settlement.
The man's personal injury lawyer commented said that "the settlement received will go some way towards making life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible."
