Work accident compensation for railway man

An American railway employee has made a successful work accident compensation claim for almost £500,000.

The 61-year-old man made the personal injury claim after suffering a neck injury whilst laying crushed rock, known in the industry as ballast, on a railway track near the Marias River in Montana.

The work accident occurred as the man held open a door on the side of a ballast container, allowing the crushed stone to pour out. Somehow he slipped and was subsequently crushed by the falling material, sustaining a neck injury in the process.

The jury sitting on the seven-day work accident compensation claim trial heard how the man will never be able to work again and so decided to award him damages of just over $10 million.
