A Leicestershire grandfather who is in the process of attempting to claim asbestos compensation has called for there to be greater effort to fund research into mesothelioma.
Meanwhile, the personal injury solicitor representing the man has made a public plea for any information that might assist the man's claim for 100 percent compensation. "We are investigating reports of asbestos exposure at Donaldson & Finch/Vinaflex Manufacturing and would like to speak to anybody who worked at the factory, originally in Beech Street and then in Syston, between 1960 and 1980," he said.
Adding, "If anybody has had a claim against the employer or knows anything about its insurers, please do come forward."
The 67-year-old claimant, who worked as a machine operative at a Leicester manufacturing firm between 1966 and 1977, told the Leicester Mercury, ""Mesothelioma needs its own funding and research. It should not be lumped in with other cancers.
"Scientists have made wonderful strides with breast and prostate cancer and I believe mesothelioma needs the same level of attention."
