A 30-year-old mother-of-four from Essex has won the right to receive injury compensation for the alleged clinical negligence that led to her suffering a stroke.
Medical negligence solicitors representing the woman's injury compensation claim outline how in the month before the claimant suffering her stroke she suffered a whole spate of symptoms, including dizziness, head pain, nausea, and disorientation.
However, visits to both her GP and her local accident and emergency department failed to result in her receiving the referral that it is alleged could potentially have saved her from suffering the stroke.
As a result, she is now unable to walk without assistance, and suffers from debilitating weakness down the left side of her body.
Fortunately for the claimant, the judge at a two-day trial agreed that earlier intervention would probably have prevented the stroke.
The woman's personal injury solicitor commented on the importance of this decision to her hopes of securing injury compensation. "This means we will be able to obtain some financial compensation. although the sums involved will not be known for some time," he said.
Adding, "This will help her to deal with the difficulties of raising her four children while unable to be fully independent or to earn a wage."
