As many as 20% of British tourists taking the plane to Spain end up with tummy pain and other ailments which can result in holiday accident claims being made.
Spain is at the top of the list for holiday illnesses suffered by UK holidaymakers with Greece and Egypt following closely behind.
The poll of 3,000 people found that as many as 70% of Britons fall ill while away, with 40% suffering diarrhoea, 20% food poisoning and 10% sunstroke.
In addition, 20% had a holiday accident while 27% had to visit a doctor while away.
The poll also showed that 22% do not always get the required jabs before visiting a foreign country and 25% do not bother with travel insurance.
British travellers were also found to rely on doctors or pharmacists overseas to be able to speak English.
