An inquiry into a fatal holiday accident has now come to a close after management of an outdoor activity centre admitted responsibility for a teenager's death at its site in southern Scotland.
The 15-year-old girl died from a personal injury to her head she sustained while gorge jumping at the Grey Mare's Tail in the Galloway Forest near Newton Stewart.
During the inquiry, officials from the centre said they accepted and acknowledged responsibility for the accident and steps had been taken to ensure that such an accident could not happen again.
The site where the girl was killed was deemed an 'unsuitable' spot for the activity and the company admitted that it had failed to carry out an adequate risk assessment of the site used but since then it had reviewed all sites.
The activity centre was fined a total of £16,000 in damages for the teenager's holiday accident.
