A man who was injured when police shot a dangerous dog outside his home is seeking personal injury compensation.
Police had been called after two dogs had escaped from the man's neighbour in Crewe, Cheshire. The fully grown rottweiler and American bulldog puppy were reported as being out of control and dangerous.
The rottweiler, which weighed 10 stone, attacked a member of the public and caused serious wounds to a police officer who needed hospital treatment. When the dog started jumping at other members of the public, officers were forced to take the action of shooting the dog.
Unfortunately, the claimant who had been watching the incident through his living room window was hit in the neck by a ricochet from the shooting, causing him to sustain serious personal injury.
Police immediately took the man to hospital for medical treatment following the accident.
The man is now seeking personal injury compensation for the neck injury he sustained.
