The family of a former X-Factor contestant from Leeds who recently died from cancer have said that they may make a medical negligence claim after it was revealed that seriously delays in diagnosis led to him dying only two days after he was correctly diagnosed.
In fact, it has been claimed that at one point a health professional told the man to "grow up and stop worrying", this is despite the man having contacted his GP on twelve separate occasions expressing concern for his own health. Perhaps fatally, doctors diagnosed him with acute anxiety rather than the malignant lymphoma he was actually suffering from, something which may be of interest to any medical negligence solicitor appointed.
A personal injury solicitor with connections to the family has said on their behalf that they are not yet completely sure if they will pursue a medical negligence claim. "The family want to have a few weeks of reflection and they will then consider their options and consider possible civil action against the GP and the trust," he said.
