A manufacturing company based in Dorset has been fined after an employee sustained multiple types of serious personal injury in an accident at work.
The 61-year-old worker had been working for the ventilation manufacturer on their site in Verwood when he was hit by a reversing forklift truck.
The man, who worked as a lorry delivery driver for the firm, suffered severe personal injuries in the work accident, including broken bones in both his legs and ankles.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into the accident revealed that there was not enough segregation between the areas for pedestrians and forklift trucks.
The company appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court where they admitted a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act and were fined £10,000.
Speaking after the hearing, an HSE inspector stated that the accident at work, which caused the employee's injuries, could easily have been avoided had the working space been better organised.
