A verdict has been given by a coroner's jury for the death of an electrician who was killed in a fatal work accident earlier this year.
Peter Roseman, of Kenilworth Drive, Borehamwood, was electrocuted in January whilst fixing a washing machine belonging to Sheila and Raymond Hollamby in Sutton Path.
According to Mrs Hollamby, Mr Roseman turned the washing machine around and unscrewed the top so he could remove pieces of the fan. As he reached into the machine, Mr Roseman jumped and told Mrs Hollamby that the power was still on before collapsing to the floor.
The 62-year-old electrician was taken to Barnet General Hospital but later died from his personal injuries.
Mr Roseman had been working in the industry for over 30 years and so an investigation into his fatal accident was launched by the Health and Safety Executive.
Health and Safety inspector, Mohammed Ahmed, told the inquest in Hatfield, "The most likely scenario is that the fan had disintegrated and while Peter was trying to secure the machine using cable ties with one hand, his other hand would have been on the body of the machine. He came into contact with live connection and received a 240 volt shock."
Hertfordshire coroner, Edward Thomas, said that Mr Roseman was an experienced repairman who was tragically killed in a work accident and that he was highly respected by his customers.
