A woman who suffered a serious personal injury after falling on a damaged section of road is looking to make a compensation claim from her local council.
The 48-year-old had just got off a bus in Loughton in September 2009 when she caught her foot on a solid lump of tarmac which was raised up close to the curb.
The pavement accident left the woman with one fractured ankle and damage in the other, meaning that she has had to take more than a month off work.
"It's been completely debilitating. I'm in severe pain and I've had to go to 22 sessions of physiotherapy," the injured woman said.
Research into her accident found that a council inspector had recommended that the section of road should be repaired in 2007, but nothing had been done.
The woman is now taking legal actions against Essex County Council for the personal injury she suffered in the slip.
Highway authorities have a responsibility to keep roads and footpaths safe for all their users, so anyone injured in a fall may be able to make a compensation claim and seek the advice of a personal injury lawyer.
