Hitchens wants end to contingency fee personal injury claims

Mail on Sunday commentator Peter Hitchens has called for an end to the no win, no fee system.

Hitchens, paleoconservative and former education correspondent, used his weekly column to say that the "law permitting no win, no fee law suits should be repealed", arguing that it hinders the efficacy of the UK education system, shackling the freedom of both teachers and schools.

However, contingency arrangement personal injury claims did not bear the sole brunt of Hitchens' attack. He also called for the abolishment of 1989's Children Act and made an argument for the reintroduction of corporal punishment.

Indeed, this is not the first time that Peter Hitchens has attacked the laws allowing no win, no fee claims for accident compensation. Just last year he called for a "a complete repeal of Section 58 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990, and the Conditional Fee Agreements Regulations, passed as a Statutory Instrument in 1995".
