A 62-year-old woman who suffered a stroke soon after being involved in a serious car accident has won a seven-figure sum of injury compensation.
The claim focused on the events of car accident that occurred on the A134 in Essex during 2004, in which the claimant's Honda was involved in a collision with a Mini Cooper. Tragically, the 20-year-old driver of the Mini did not survive the accident.
Liability for the claim was not contested, and although the exact details of the payout were not revealed, it is understood to amount to a significant seven-figure sum.
The judge hearing the case expressed his admiration for the part the claimant's husband has played in helping her recover from the effects of the stroke. "You are to be congratulated for having got to where you have reached today, despite her terrible injuries," he commented.
The no win, no fee solicitor who negotiated the woman's car accident compensation settlement said that an upfront lump sum would address her immediate needs while an index-linked series of ongoing payments would provide for her future treatment and care.
