A car accident in Limavady, near Londonderrry in Northern Ireland, ended in the death of the driver and the personal injury of his three young passengers.
The reason behind the accident, which happened in Bishops Road, has not been reported but it is thought that no other vehicle was involved in the road traffic accident.
The 22-year-old driver, and only fatality of the incident, had only recently passed his driving test.
A member of Coleraine Borough Council, said of the crash, "The scene of the accident is in a scenic area, overlooking Lough Foyle and Donegal. It is so sad to think a young man lost his life in an area of such beauty".
The three passengers who were also in the car at the time of the accident were teenagers, and sustained only minor injuries.
The Coleraine councillor expressed his sadness about the event saying, "While the number of road fatalities has dropped in recent times, this is no comfort to the [victim's] family and other families that have to deal with the horror of losing a loved one on the roads".
Police are asking any witnesses of the car accident, particularly the driver of a grey Volvo thought to have been in the area at the time, to come forward with any information about what may have caused the incident.
Should it come to light that another vehicle was involved then the three passengers who were injured could claim compensation from the driver of the other car, for their pain, suffering and any loss of earnings.
