A 40-year old man who sustained serious injuries to his pelvis and knees when he was hit by an out-of-control and driverless car has finally won his four-year car accident claim battle.
In 2004 the glass fitter and father-of-two was withdrawing money from a cashpoint outside a major supermarket when an empty car careered into him causing him to suffer a bruised pelvis and serious damage to the cruciate ligaments in his knees.
The insurance company responsible initially denied liability for the car accident claim, insisting that the vehicle must have rolled free as a result of a botched attempt to steal it. But the judge hearing the case at Bolton County Court agreed with argument presented by the claimant's personal injury lawyer that the accident must have happened as a result of the owner's failure to properly apply the handbrake.
The successful claimant commented on his earlier difficulties in making a successful car accident claim, "The insurance company made it so difficult that many times I was ready to give up but he [his lawyer] told me that insurance companies often put obstacles in the way and encouraged me to keep going with the case."
While the man's personal injury lawyer spoke about the outcome of the case, "Over the years we have dealt with many difficult road traffic cases. We were always confident that [the client] would win and happy that he has now got his compensation."
