Parents of a Halifax schoolboy have expressed disbelief at his school's failure to recognise his whiplash injury following a bus crash.
As the GCSE student was waiting to come home on the bus, another vehicle collided with it. This road traffic accident was severe enough to shatter the rear window of the bus and throw passengers forward, but the boy's mother said that her son was sent home without examination of his personal injury.
"I couldn't believe it when he came back home. He couldn't even walk," she said. "It is absolutely ridiculous they let him go home like that. We went straight to accident and emergency and he was treated for whiplash but we have had to go back since and an X-ray has showed he has damaged the nerves and muscles in his neck. The school should have checked them all out properly."
"It's usually an excellent school."
The head teacher claimed that anyone who had come forward with a personal injury was treated by paramedics.
Police investigations into the bus crash are ongoing. No comment has been made regarding the likelihood of a compensation claim for the boy's whiplash injury.
