Builder wins work injury compensation

Construction accident compensation has been awarded to a 24-year-old man who suffered serious multiple injuries in a fall from height while working on Heathrow's Terminal 5.

In August 2005 the 24-year-old plummeted 120ft when the girder supporting his cradle snapped. Miraculously, he survived the fall, although he did suffer a broken leg, as well as back, head and leg injuries; medical experts believe he may only have survived the construction accident because of his extremely high fitness levels. Tragically, a 27-year-old civil engineer died in the same incident.

The claimant told press, "I can't remember much about the fall but I suffered nightmares for months. It was truly a miracle I survived. My leg was broken and my knee, back, jaw and teeth were injured. Life has been very difficult. I have been left with one leg shorter than the other and unless I move about my body seizes up."

The construction accident settlement secured for the builder by his personal injury solicitors is understood to amount to £270,000.
