A Lancashire woman has consulted personal injury solicitors to make a no win no fee compensation claim after she was hurt whilst exiting an aeroplane in an emergency.
The 25-year-old was on a trip to Pakistan with her sister when the aircraft they were travelling in skidded on the runway as it took off from Islamabad.
The cabin filled with smoke and the passengers were ordered to exit the plane immediately using the emergency slides. However, the Accrington woman burnt her hands touching the hot fuselage of the plane and also suffered cuts and bruises as she slid down the emergency chute.
Describing the incident, the woman said: "It was horrific. Everyone was screaming and shouting and trying to locate the loved ones they were travelling with.
"To make matters worse, many passengers injured themselves as they slid down the chute in the same way my sister and I did. We say lots of people with burns and broken legs, it was like a battle scene."
When she returned to the UK the woman registered a complaint with her airline but received no response and so decided to employ a no win no fee personal injury lawyer to help her make a compensation claim.
The Manchester-based personal injury solicitor she turned to commented on the case, saying: "To have experienced something as terrifying as this and suffering considerable physical and psychological injuries is bad enough but to be ignored by the airline involved literally adds insult to injury.
"It is maybe fortunate that nobody was killed or seriously injured but those who were injured… should receive compensation for their injuries."
