A South Korean man who was holidaying in India is set to make an accident claim after he had his spectacles stolen by a monkey.
The accident claim relates to an incident which took place in the man's hotel room. He says that he opened his window then, startled, watched the monkey make its move.
"He headed straight to the table where my glasses were kept and took it away," the South Korean tourist said.
The hotel which was the scene of the theft and is now the subject of an accident claim is in the Hindu holy city of Varanasi.
Police have been called out to look for the light-fingered monkey.
Investigating officer, Inspector Govind Singh said, "It is difficult to trace the monkey but I am trying my best to locate the rogue."
It is not believed that the monkey itself will be held liable for any compensation awarded under the Korean man's accident claim.
