Personal injury solicitor - work accident and industrial injury

Asbestosis is lung fibrosis caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres. It is difficult to diagnose in its early stages as symptoms are similar to lung fibrosis due to other causes. It is generally recognised that heavy exposure to asbestos is required in order to produce clinically significant asbestosis within the lifetime of an individual.

The disease is just one type of asbestos-related illness but the most well known. Other conditions include mesothelioma and Pleural thickening. The only known cause of mesothelioma is being exposed to asbestos. The annual number of mesothelioma deaths has increased from 153 in 1968 to 1848 in 2001. The latest projections suggest that the annual number of mesothelioma deaths in the UK is estimated to peak at around 1950 to 2450 deaths some time between 2011 and 2015.

JMW personal injury solicitor has an outstanding track record in the legal representation of asbestosis and related claims with specialists trained in this field. If you've been diagnosed with asbestosis and want to make a personal injury compensation claim we will help you to try and pinpoint the date of your exposure to the substance. Work records will help in obtaining compensation but sometimes this can be a tricky process. We will help to track down the insurers of the company you worked for and investigate other possible cases within your employers. We will then arrange for you to see an independent medical expert who will prepare a report which will then be used to support your claim that exposure was caused by working conditions.

If the person who suffered from mesothelioma has died, a compensation claim can still be made on behalf of their estate and any dependants.

We are one of the UK's leading personal injury solicitors (see Chambers UK Guide To The Legal Profession).
