A cyclist who made a road traffic accident claim against Kirklees Council has won £6,000 in damages.
Jason Bottomley, 25, was cycling along Penistone Road towards Shepley in March last year when a deep pothole sent him flying into the road.
Jason’s ear was partially ripped off in the road accident and he later needed 40 stitches along with plastic surgery at Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
He said, “I didn’t see the large pothole coming up. My front wheel hit it, throwing me off my bike.”
He contacted personal injury solicitors because he had been left with permanent scarring to his ear, neck, shoulder and knees.
Acting on behalf of Jason and his road traffic accident claim, Helen Price, said, “The council was responsible for failing to maintain or repair the road surface, which was left in a dangerous condition for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.”
